SinCNE President Julie Hennrikus started us off at last weekend with the latest good news as well as an appeal for us all to take advantage of the Internet and social media in Start Spreading the News!. The post is the debut of a weekly Sunday feature in which we’ll try to round up all the great things happening with our members.
Aside from book deals, that good news included:
- Hank Phillippi Ryan won the MWA/Mary Higgins Clark award
- Dana Cameron won the Agatha for best short story (“Murder in Mesopotamia”)
- Kate Flora and Katherine Hall Page were both nominated for Maine Literary Awards (We won’t spoil any surprises by saying what happened, since I’m sure Sunday’s good news post will have all that info, but here’s the link to the winners)
In other posts this week, my dog Emma also made her Internet debut (if you don’t count my Facebook page) in Distraction Dogging You? Do as Dogs Do a look at how we can take a lesson from my easily distracted dog, who can focus like a laser when she knows there’s important work to be done.
Nancy Gardner’s interview with Linda Barnes, who discusses her new book The Perfect Ghost, went up last weekend. Barnes, well-known for her Carlotta Carlyle series, has some interesting things to say about writing a standalone novel.
We have a lot of interesting members who have a variety of fascinating things to say. We’d love to hear from you if you want to post a blog — either a one-time-deal or regularly. Simply post a comment to this that you’re interested, and I’ll get back to you.
